Eynsham Hall

Fancy a quiet retreat away from London, even if it’s just for a night? I have found the perfect place for you. Eynsham Hall, located in the idyllic countryside of Oxfordshire, is a fine Jacobean style county house hotel overlooking 3000 acres of land.

Built in 1780 as a Georgian house, it was demolished in 1904 and rebuilt as a Jacobean style mansion in 1906-8 by Ernest George for the Masons family who took up residence in 1866. Previous residents have been Willoughby Lacey, Robert Langford, James Duberley, Sir Thomas Parker and Sir Thomas Bazley.

The suite itself has a similar quirky charm, finessed with a slice of English eccentricity and a touch of homeliness. The stand alone copper bath in front of a majestic view is an added bonus. I think a book and a glass of wine are calling! You can’t blame me, right?

Luckily, the sun is shining so it’s time for a stroll around the garden to check out the English roses. I am wearing the most comfortable attire from River Island, Kurt Geiger and Next. These two outfits are perfect for both casual and smart casual if you are travelling light as you can mix and match for one or two nights.

Below the grand staircase, you will find a brasserie-style restaurant with a delicious menu. In typically British fashion , I’ve chosen to go for fish and chips on a Friday with glass of Perrier Joquet champagne. You should never leave the table without having any dessert, right?

If you are looking to stay a little longer, there’s plenty to do around Eynsham Hall. If you’d like to shop, Bicester Village is located nearby, or if you are interested in a piece of British history you can visit Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.

You can check out more information on the Eynsham Hall website, here, and be sure to have your own Oxfordshire getaway soon, especially since spring is here. Maybe you could hire a convertible car to enjoy the countryside.
